There have however been a number of brilliant Scottish bands - certainly more that there have been Welsh ones at least and probably Irish ones too. I quite like the fey indie of Belle and Sebastian, the cartoonish acid stompers The Shamen, the sepulchral shards of majesty that was The Cocteau Twins, the (maybe this was just me) the lovely Shop Assistants/Motorcycle Boy or even Easterhouse who I really liked for a few weeks in the mid-80s......but my favourite has to be the Fannies....if only for the splendour of Bandwagonesque as I wasn't even that hot on their later stuff.
