Saw the Beastie Boys at Glastonbury in '94 - 2nd stage IIRC. Rather over shadowed by the magnificence of Orbital that weekend but excellent all the same.

Saw Rebel MC last year - he is now a full on rasta known as Congo Natty - he did a 3 hour DJ/Toasting set with Adrian Sherwood - that was pretty good

The Beasties (along with Massive Attack) were one the most significant acts through my musical life in the late 80s and 90s...I saw them a couple of times and they were brilliant...being 47 myself, it's a generational thing, my facebook page yesterday was wall-to-wall MCA tributes...

Remember the "Three Idiots Create a Masterpiece" review from Rolling Stone.

I used to buy anything produced by Rick Rubin and Def Jam back in those days. Even among such company the Beastie Boys were something truly unique. RIP MCA and thanks for all the great memories.

As mentioned before, the best bit is that they fooled around, had hits then went back and really developed themselves.

3 massive albums after Licensed to ill, that I'm a huge fan of. I must say it all went downhill quickly from Hello Nasty on.

To be fair, this is the path of most good bands. It's rare they get the 5th.

I am always respectful of the dead. RIP.

The theft of my VW badges was a bit annoying.

Some of the folks we are camping with this weekend have taken the VW badges off the front of their campers as a mark of respect

We have a tyre on the front of ours so can't join in

Last year's album was very good. You should give it a try.
