A Scottish couple will return home with a different version of happy holiday snaps when Archibald D'Mello and his wife Violet look at photographs of her being attacked by a cheetah.

As their guide frantically tried to pull the large cat from Violet, she reacted in the safest way she knew - by playing dead while her husband was filming the entire ordeal.

I have played with them a few times at Cheetah experience here in Bloem. Remarkable animals and wonderful people at Cheetah experience. Last time I was shown around by a tiny sexy Scottish volunteer.

Cheetah Experience is a great little park actually, when I was there they had a little jack russel terrier in the Cheetah enclosure

They also had tiger cubs and caracals which was cool.

It’s bril, time before last I went with my mum and as she gave a massive tip the guide took us on a private after hours tour.

Hopefully you'll come and try this in South Africa?

Please let me know well in advance when you plan to do this. I need to hire lenses.

Get on its back, wrap my legs underneath its torso, and apply a rear naked choke. Simples.

It only looks about 7 or 8 stone, I'll crush it.

Trogs, you can take all the photos you want of my victory

Will you be using it's tail as a tourniquet and it's fur to stem the blood flow from your rip wounds after?

I need to know as I want to buy a raincoat for the close-up action shots.

quite amazing that the other cheetah isn't playing along.

edit: just looked again at the first shot - it was a game.

Between Graaff-Reinet and Port Elizabeth, just other side Jansenville on the PE side there is "Daniels Cheetah sanctuary" - great place. Not huge and commercialized but they have the Cheetahs obviously (had "Duma" there before it died) and usually have lion cubs that you can sit and play with for about 45minutes. Great times.

I've tackled prop forwards 5 times heavier than that scrawny bag of fur, I'll have no problem pinning it to the ground. Sure it would take a bit of guile to avoid it's teeth, hence why I'd be getting on its back and controlling it's neck. Cheetahs don't have lethal claws like other big cats, so the most I'd get would be some superficial scratches.

Bring it on

So by your own estimates you've tackled 40 stone props? Hmmm......

Nevermind its weight.

Does 0-100 km/h in under 3 seconds. Top speed of 120 km/h. Very agile.

But in more seriousness, DD actually has a chance. He must just ensure the cheetah doesn't sink his teeth in him before DD gets the chance to make his move.

I'd say of all the big cats, the cheetah is probably the one he could try his luck on.

But I wouldn't.

This is exactly the reason plenty British tourists get ripped to shreds by our cats every year. The think they can choke a cheetah or that they aren't as dangerous as the stories go. I give you my word a cheetah will rip your face off before you can blink or snap your fingers. They are 10 times the size of your domestic cat but just as fast and agile. They have 10 times higher pain barrier than humans and when we talk survival, you will be the one losing out. A human has no chance against a fully grown baboon, leopard or cheetah. Cheetahs bring down 500 pound zebras travelling at 120 kmph for fucks sake. Nothing like a fat slow human for cheetah breakfast. You will die and you will die very quickly.

I'm a big fan of the cat species. Awesome creatures. It's hurtful to me when I see a Big Cat getting beat on tv by another species (thankfully it's extremely rare).

According to wiki, a tiger once killed a rhino in a fight.
