I like watching the Saffer sides.

I have property there where I go on holiday there every year.

Have been doing so for 20 years.

I like the place.

I'm sorry if this upsets you for some reason.

For interests sake, why do you hate them so much?

i dont

but you're comment was disingenuous - moaning about the ref all game, and then coming on here with a 'compliment' for the ref after your team won

 sure

... if the bulls hadve lost you wouldve been on here bitching about how shit he was, like you did during the match, or any match involving a saffa team

Nonsense.

The penalty count was lopsided. The stats were there if you wanted to check.

Even whilst mentioning it, I stated that the ref was facilitating an entertaining game.

Now get back under your rock.

Give over. Go and read through your posts on this thread again. It's a litany of bitching about the ref and the officials, again and again and again. But the Bulls won, and suddenly the ref had a good game. It's not a good look.

Incorrect.

I moaned about the traditional lop-sided penalty count.

I also stated at the time that he was facilitating a classy game.

It's there to read if you choose to do so.

Anyway, back to Spies.

Are there other candidates the Bok coach will look at, or is Spies a shoe-in?

I think Vermeulen for the Stormers shows much better, solid 8th man skills.

I also really like Johnson from the Cheetahs. Seems to have a complete game and also very abrasive and physical. Think the Cheetahs coach doesn't think much of his stamina though.

Agreed.

it does seem though that Meyer will stick with Spies.

Which is certainly to the Boks detriment, I suppose.

I'm not one for playing players out of position, but you'd wonder what somebody like Burger, or that large Bulls flanker Potgieter would be like at 8th man.

Saying that, it would be like playing Spies at 8th man again I suppose. The 8 is such a vital link, and needs a specific skill-set.

At least the officials have set out their stall about who they are blowing for and against in this match.

Long evening ahead for the Bulls with regards to the officials.

No ways is that a penalty.

Rebels player lost the ball in the tackle and the Bulls prop fell on it. Why the penalty?

The 2 yellow card offences show that, amongst others. Like the latest penalty against the Bulls right now. Keep it close, eh ref?

Perhaps some nothing penalties to Bulls in their own half should bring some balance to the stats post match.

There is no other forward in SA that is more certain of his spot in the Bok team than Pierre, maybe Brussouw or Bismarck, but I doubt it….

Mate, it doesn't matter what else you posted, or especially that you made a few noises about decent refereeing towards the end. What is plain for all to see is some world class bitching and moaning about the ref and officials, which at least three other posters called you on. But feel free to ignore that and pretend you weren't constantly whinging about the ref, OK?

Meyer strikes me as an intelligent man.

Meyer “found” Pierre, signed him, started him in super rugby even before he played curriecup, gave him a run on wing when there was no place in the pack. I think it is fair to say that he believes in him. Besides, his competition for bok 8 is paper thin.

Competition for captain is also starting to look thin (except if Schalk can return soon). Don’t believe all this talk about JdV being a possible captain. Meyer knows the capetown press is dissecting every move he makes (especially since he signed the blue brigade to help him coach). He is only making the right noises for now to placate them. Once the chips are down, his captain will probably be true blue, matfield, du preez, spies in that order (I think Schalk has a shot though).

While I agree with the sentiment, I don't think Pierre's spot is a sure thing. He can probably be the most confident, but not 100% sure.

Based on form I'd have Johnson ahead of him. There are few contenders though, so his run may be easier than other positions. It's damn shame because there are many loosies that are better than him at present...just not playing No8.

LE know more about SA rugby and the S15 then most Saffers. I dont agree with the ref bashing before and during matches and will only bitch if my team is winning but we have more sour cunts here then you think there are. Suur Poeier Poeste is the right word for them.

I think Vermeulen for the Stormers shows much better, solid 8th man skills.

You've been caught out lying through selective quoting.

I had a moan about the lopsided penalty count, that seems to always accompany SA sides down under. This I freely admitted and still maintain.

I maintained I also complimented the ref on his general handling of the game at the same time.
You sought to lie by selective quoting by denying me that claim.
I have shown that you selectively omitted this, thus lying by omission.
It took me a couple of seconds, versus your meticulously edited quotes.

Now suddenly it no longer matters.

Stop with the fibbing already.

7-2 at half time.

It happens in almost every match down under.

The Saffer sides must be naughty every first half when they travel, versus the saintly local lads.

You are inferring that South African sides are penalised more than their Australasian opposition aren't you?

It certainly seems that way, to me at least, in the first halves.

There is also a general leavening process that counters this in the second half.

Serious question: Do refs get to see the stats at half time? What do they do apart from taking fluid in?

So rather than a traditional lop sided penalty count you are suggesting the SA teams, when touring, get penalised more in the first half, the Australasian teams then get penalised more in the 2nd half, and we're all square at the end?

I don't have the stats by half or by venue but I can tell you that in all games between SA teams versus NZ/Aus teams to-date the SA teams have conceeded 237 penalties and the NZ/Aus teams have conceeded 252.

I doubt the refs look at any stats at halftime but I really dont know the answer to that.

Are there other candidates the Bok coach will look at, or is Spies a shoe-in?

I think Vermeulen for the Stormers shows much better, solid 8th man skills.

If it's traditional for the Bulls to end up on the wrong side of the PK count perhaps it's their fault and not the referees?

I honestly thought Andrew had a cracker of a game and was on of the best debuts we have seen this year.

I was referring to the 'traditional' part.

Fluid in and talking about trends mainly, stats don't get shown until after the game for most referees. All depends on who you are and what you want to know.
