Argentina has riled the Falkland Islands by broadcasting a political advert filmed on the territory without authorisation.

The advert features an Argentine athlete training in the Falklands ahead of the London Olympics in July.

It ends with the slogan: "To compete on English soil, we train on Argentine soil."

Advert can be watched here:

 I saw this last night

Quite funny really, though I know it wasnt meant as a humerous merking.

I dont know why the BBC (and other media if they do) give the Arg rants any publicity as they are, in Salmond style, probably falling into the trap of letting it reach its intended audience.

Seriously - their government is paying money for that?

It would have been better if they'd done a Heinikien or Mastercard rip off.

It would have better if we all just ignored it. By bringing this advert to our attention, the UK media (including the BBC) are doing exactly what the hormonally imbalanced old leather face wanted.

I'm up for some tit for tat shit. The Govt should hire someone like Chris Morris to do a response.

It's not a Salmond style trap, these types of "japes" really doesn't do the Argies any favours in the eyes of the British.

The Sun:

Quote:
ARGENTINA sparked outrage last night after running a TV advert showing an Argie Olympian doing step-ups on a British war memorial to our fallen heroes in the Falklands.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/ne ... -dead.html

The advert is quite provocative, but massively precious. I think a shrug is a better response that the Sun's real or faux outrage.

I'm sure the primary aim is to rile up people at home, but they certainly want to keep nudging Britain as it's their only hope.

I think the rest of the world may have bigger fish to fry at the moment.

Who gives a fuck what the Sun thinks.

Would any of us do step-ups on a War Memorial belonging to any country?

So you can't answer the question? The advert isn't aimed at us, it's aimed at the Argentinian masses.

By god, you're thick.

First part of your post is correct, but why nudge us, this will only end up pissing us off and makes their ultimate goal of negotiations even more distant.

That's right DAC, Kirchner had no intention of winding up the Falkland Islanders/British just before the big event

Are you kidding? Did you see the Argie ambassadors Telegraph editorial or the constant digs that the British people should demand our Government follows a path of peace rather than aggression etc.

Or maybe a porn film. Picture me shagging my way through vulnerable, homesick Agrentinean chicas in preparation for my big trip to Buenos Aires.

What good does blocking Falkland Islands ships, and ships visiting the Falkland Islands do?
What good does asking Argentinian companies to try to avoid buying British goods?
What good does threatening to sue Oil companies drilling for oil around the Falklands do?

You don't get out much these days I hear.

Tell me, what are her tactics reference the UK? You don't seem to know, you just seem embarrased that we dare to comment on things like this advert.

Yes, reasonable comments. Now, are you able to tell me what good the advert would do the Argentinian Bootface if she wants to get the UK round the table for a chin wag.

The Falklands/Malvinas are probably not a major issue for many people in the world, and are not particularly important to British people either I shouldnt imagine.

I can accept that a primary argument may be that whipping up a frenzy about a nationalist cause at home may take peoples attention away from other domestic issues - fairly bog standard politician tactic perhaps - but of course she's trying to influence other countries.

Her only hope is shouting really loud and hoping something changes. Tactic 1, reference the UK, the Argentinian ambassador writing an article in the telegraph, demanding action from the British people.

You seem a little aggro about this. She absolutely no chance of getting the UK govt round the table and she knows this, so she's trying desperately to apply pressure to other nations who may have influence, or the British people who may have influence.

I dont necessarily think here tactics are effective, but that what she's doing.

So you agree your Salmond reference was incorrect, cheers.

We were not the intended target of the advert, not by a long stretch.

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're getting at.

I suggested that by publicising every Argentinian rant that we were actually doing their bidding to an extent, and stand by that.

Lets not bother with this argument, it's boring.

Too true it's boring, yours and Clangars statements were utterly incorrect.

So after getting their ass kicked in 82 they sneak back and shoot a few sneaky video shots.

Cleary we must hit back - lets send Vicky Pendleton to the 'Malvinas' memorial in BA to get her tits out.
