The Blues are playing for pride, while the 'Canes are still an outside chance. The 'canes haven't been playing bad rugby (except for Chris Eaton :x :x :x ) but have come up against teams that are playing exceptional rugby. I don't think any team could have beaten that Chiefs side on Saturday.

I do hope there is a good crowd for the 'Canes. We saw the value of a good crowd for Waikato.

Have you ever watched a porno where the girl gets bent over and drilled from behind by two guys. And then another guy enters the scene and mouth fucks here whilst another stands by whacking off. And then another walks in and shits on her head?

That's the Blues' season summed up. :((

Maybe not 50 axe, but the Blues won't be featuring in a 12 and over win, I wouldn't think.
The mockers remain unamused, rest assured.

Nothing to do with the Mockers. I honestly believe the Canes will win well.

Fuck knows what I was thinking backing the Blues against the Reds. My only loss of the weekend. :x

JUST TALKING: Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett and Piri Weepu have a chat
after the Super Rugby match between the Hurricanes and the Blues in Auckland in March

Quote:
Mark Hammett staying tight-lipped on Weepu
'We don't discuss player meetings'
HAMISH BIDWELL Last updated 05:00 01/05/2012

Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett has met with Piri Weepu in recent weeks but would not divulge what the pair discussed or whether the halfback was welcome back at the Super Rugby franchise.

Weepu, who turned down a Hurricanes contract for this year in favour of playing for the Blues, has expressed a desire to return to his former stamping ground.

He and Hammett shared a lengthy and apparently good natured chat at Eden Park, when the Hurricanes and Blues met earlier this season. Weepu's new team meet the Hurricanes at Westpac Stadium on Friday, but Hammett was evasive when asked if the two would talk again.

"What do you mean by that?" he asked.

So began an exchange in which the Hurricanes coach yielded very little ground.

Reporter: Well, you talked to Piri last time the teams met?

Hammett: I mean we had a chat after the game. I talk to most players.

R: Have you discussed him coming back to play for the Hurricanes?

H: I've fulfilled a meeting request that he had, a couple of Saturdays ago. So I have met him and yeah.

R: So he asked for a meeting and you said yes?

H: Yeah.

R: Was it a cordial conversation?

H: It was cordial when I spoke to him after that Auckland game. But, obviously, with all player discussions it's confidential.

R: Is it potentially destabilising for your current halfbacks to have Piri indicating that he wants to come home?

H: I've got very good relationships with my players and you'd have to ask them that question.

R: Piri has created this speculation. Can you say anything to kill it stone dead or can you confirm that the team might be interested in having him back, so we can avoid weeks of this talk?

H: The thing is you won't get clarity because, as I've just said, we don't discuss that. We don't discuss player meetings.

So around we go in circles, again.

Aside from people like Tana Umaga and Ma'a Nonu, few Hurricanes players have been firmer fan favourites than Weepu.

His departure saddened many and while some might feel the Hurricanes are better off without him, most would welcome Weepu back with open arms.

Weepu himself hasn't explicitly said he'd like to return to the Hurricanes.

"They've got to want me first," he said last week.

A day later, Hurricanes chief executive James Te Puni would only say that his franchise was open to talking to any player or their agent.

Ad Feedback Meanwhile, Hammett was happy to report that a bit of bruised pride was the only significant injury affecting his team, in the wake of Saturday's 33-14 loss to the Chiefs.

He said halfback TJ Perenara was "pretty vibrant" after twisting an already tender ankle during the match, and there was nothing serious about reserve hooker Motu Matu'u wandering around in a moon boot. Both would probably be fit for selection this week.

A couple of Ma'a Nonu and Piri Weepu-inspired ditties have been penned but the Flying Squadron doubt they'll give them any air time when the Blues meet the Hurricanes on Friday night.

The Hurricanes' supporters club are well aware that the match at Westpac Stadium marks the pair's first appearance in Wellington as Blues players.

But unlike their inspiration, the Yellow Fever, the Flying Squadron have no plans to unfurl a banner reading "Judas", as happened when former Wellington Phoenix star Marco Rojas returned to the Cake Tin with the Melbourne Victory during the recent A-League season.

Flying Squadron founder Evan Belford doesn't believe his 412-strong band are "as harsh" as football fans, although they have prepared for Nonu and Weepu's arrival.

"There could be one or two new songs but, at the same time, we like those guys, so we're not sure if we should use them.

"We also don't want to get smashed over by their families in the next aisle," a laughing Belford said.

"But, yeah, a couple of guys have written songs and, like I said, we're not sure whether to use them or not."

Despite now plying their Super Rugby trade elsewhere, Nonu and Weepu remain admired figures in Wellington. For that reason, Belford doesn't believe anyone in the crowd will attempt to abuse the former Hurricanes on Friday.

"They're no Quade Cooper, they haven't gone across the ditch," he joked. By and large, he added, rugby crowds didn't get into players anyway.

"Other than Quade Cooper, you don't see it. And with him it was only because he picked on Richie McCaw.

"I'd be surprised if they booed those guys because it was only last year that everyone was still wanting them in the team."I think they'll get a good reception.

"The only time they might not get a good reception is if they start running through our team."

Going to the match. Looking forward to visiting the cake tin again. Not a bad seating the house.

Canes will see desperate for this one. The Blues are mentally shot I think. Want to see that Canes back line carve up.

If the Blues were playing in Australia, they could claim compo for the chandeliers falling on their heads during the act of coitus. They won't even get that on Friday when they get drilled by a bunch of schoolboys in yellow and a guy with a porno haircut.

What has Michael Hobbs ever done for the Blues, though? In limited opportunities, admittedly, he has been worse than Anscombe.

He was better than Anscombe after 2 touches of the ball against the Reds.

I'm not sure if you've been watching the Blues closely, but Anscombe is very, very predictable - making it easier for the opposition to shutdown Nonu and our outside backs. His kicking game has also been very poor - aimless + kicking too much.

He's looking much the same as he did for Auckland last season - which wasn't very good.

Hobbs will at least take on the line, and give us a different dimension in attack.

Exactly.

Weepu would be welcomed back with open arms.

I'd like him to stay myself. We're going to need him next year...

He flies home to Wellington on the weekends - Mark Hammett only needs to approve, presumably, and Weepu will be a 'Cane again.

Dream on, brat...

Look at our side!

We've failed to score more than 2 tries in a game all season! No other side in the comp can say that...

That's why I'm happy to see Hobbs given a go. Basically, why the fuck not?

Anyway, next week is the big one. Our grand final. :smug:

I've always wondered what Nonu and Weepu did to deserve such unwavering loyalty from their fans. It can't have been the manner in which Weepu left, when he claimed he was waiting for a contract offer when he already had one, and once that was made clear to him he bailed to the Blues anyway.

Edit: Don't want to derail the thread, I realise this topic often will, but the guys in the article seemed quite good natured about the whole thing. You don't think you're overreacting a little?

I'd buy a ticket and go and help Piri and Ma'a's families fuck those wankers up if they start any chants against them.

You don't think you're overreacting to my comment?

Got my ticket.

Thanks to Mr V!

Seven Abs in the 22. Not enough All Black players to expect a decent effort?

Only 3 long term ABs though and they poached two of them.

Aye. The best 2...

I think the ABs we're missing are just a wee bit more important to the side than the 7 in the 22...

Half the AB pack would come in handy + our most influential back, and our best winger.

AND BRAD MIKA! BY FUCK WE MISS HIM!

Shit man, don't take it so seriously ....

TV3 just did a puff piece for Anscombe basically whining about him being dropped. I assume the TV3 sports editor hasn't watched him play recently.

What can I say? You strike me as an angry man :P

I was actually hoping Anscombe would play so Barrett can show the world he's the superior 1st 5 from class 2011, despite Anscombe's dad giving him all the running at 1st 5.

How on earth could you think I was serious? There's no way I'd pay money to see the Blues and the Canes play each other live!

I was looking forward to seeing the hype-off, the media would have gotten into a frenzy talking about them playing each other!!!

I know the Blues have had a shit run of injuries again this year, but let us be frank about this. Is the above the worst Blues team to ever take the field? Shit forward pack, and backs that lack vision and ability.
