I haven't seen any of Sat's game nor read the press. How long did Weir get? Did Jackson loose it?

Cross will probably be OK for the summer even with Kellock but I'd rather see Lowe get some game time again.

Think Weir came on around 50 minutes, just after Jackson missed the second conversion. I make it 1 penalty and 2 conversions missed. Don't think he lost it, he's just not a consistent kicker full stop.

I'd also prefer to see Low tour, he's looked better since his return though no one looked good on saturday. Low and Kalman would be my picks.


Oh and I would advise taking a look at the game, for nothing else than to see Hoggs first try. No one can say he lacks pace now.

Before the Italy game did you guys think Scotland had not been to bad in the games played. I actually thought they had been a bit toothless in their finishing and dire for 20 minutes against Wales but apart from that had played virtually as well as England over the 4 games.

Don't recall saying it, and would never describe him as slow. If was a positional conversation about him, may have been that he is not winger fast, but, apart from Thom Evans none of our wing options have been for few years. Jones is quick, but, not lighting, relying on fast feet and quick off mark more than out and out pace.

I may have been a little economical with the truth there.



After the A game I do remember you saying the one thing he lacked was out and out pace. And while he's no Thom he's up there for FBs.

Jerps, while Evans wasn't as quick as some in rugby, he is faster than anyone in Scotland shirt for years. Possibly James Craig being last I can think of and where did he end up?!

Stand by Hogg is fast but not sprinter quick. His rugby brain, clever angles and direction changes on move make him appear quicker than he is. That's no criticism, I will take a clever player over pure gas (nigel walker!) any day of the week.

Coo, I was only there for half a season in 1990 before I broke my back. Spent a year out and in that time I moved away from the area. It is a pretty tenuous link. Great club though and there were some fine players there at the time.[/quote]

For a cop I am pretty shit at recalling names; better with faces. The obvious ones around that time were Stewart Campbell, Andy Nicol, John Manson. I also remember Neil Finnie, Ally Keys, Tam Dymock and a couple of others. A very welcoming crowd indeed.
