Utter crap last night. Dire dire stuff.

Should be some more fire tonight especially at the Mayol.

Match of the weekend maybe the Pro2 Play-Off Final, but why the fuck did they decided for a 14:00 kick off!

If I can find a feed/stream for the Elite 2 game, will post.

Usually I get them on Sports Lemon except when its EuroSport only. Hoping Stade Montois win it.

Toulon v Racing

 1: For the referee. Best performance I've seen for ages because he officiated the breakdown with zero tolerance. He also wasn't afraid to ping the home side. Anyone have his name?
 2: for Fall who was MOTM for me. Caught more high balls (some very difficult) than most Fre players can manage in a season. Ran an excellent line for the try, made all his tackles including that brilliant one to prevent van Niekerk getting in the corner and also holding up one of the RCT players for a turnover.
 3: Ivaldi. His throwing was a bit awry but his work in the loose was great.

 1: Berbizer/Quesada. They can't help themselves, can they? Get the lead and then try and sit on it and play -ve rugby for 65 mins. Also subbing Fall when he was the best player: his replacement's (Vakatawa) first action was to give away a dumb pen which was the difference in the end. Why take of Nallet (a key leader) with 3 mins left? Racing will win nothing with these ***ts in charge.
 2: Hernandez. x( I defy anyone to name a player whose relative sh*tness to salary/over-ratedness has ever existed. Utter, utter dogw*nk.
 3: Steyn. Who is almost as bad as Hernandez. Aimless kicking being the norm and dropping that ball under the posts. Klutz.
Racing should dump those 2 into the Federales and save some money.

Well those playoffs have been underwhelming so far. A bit dissapointed for Racing as they probable should have won that game. Fall had a stormer, if only he could stay fit for a few games in a row! The Ferris of our backline I'm afraid. As an aside note, I just got my tickets for the T=14 final! Bring it on!

Hi Sid. Where did you buy them? Have DB on the case for us: so hope he found some!

The 2PM kickoff for the Pro D2 final is ridiculous, especially with a national holiday tomorrow. And it's not like it can get really warm in Bordeaux at that time of the year.

Would have gone there if not for a family lunch, a middle of the afternoon kickoff time would have been much better. Will be watching it on the local FR3 channel instead.

Good luck to Pau and MDM!

Boring boring rugby. I watched both semis and was deeply frustrated. Montpellier were dire, they failed to turn up and were not even worthy of the sparring partners' tag. I've never seen a team at that level losing the ball that often in the set piece, and when they had possession, giving it away so quickly through a turn-over, a penalty or another stupid mistake.

Toulon-Racing was a better game, but still not very impressive. We had Descon's clever chip and Fall's try on one side, Giteau's burst through the center (for only 3pts) and Smith brilliance for Armitage's try. The rest was poor.

On that basis, it looks like Clermont and Toulouse should have no problem qualifying, but you never know.

First time I see Tillous-Borde in a long time... He is as slow as Yachvili. How many times was he late at the ruck?

On the other hand the final in pro2 stade Montois vs Pau showed that you don't need superstars to play a very good and fast rugby game.

Looks like Lille got a big home crowd for their SF against Massy over the weekend. Around 4k apparently. Return match is next week, they could be a player if they get promoted to D2.

They lost the home game, their first loss on their home turf these last two years. They dominated but Massy woke up after the 60th minutes and were able to score in turnovers. I think I'll go to Massy for the away game.

Apparently, there are tickets for the Clermont's semi-final, but when I go on the LNR site to buy some, they tell me I am not a fan and I can't have any. :x

Enjoy the game, mate. Too bad I cannot go because of a combination of unexpected expenses and job deadlines.

A shame, it would have been good to entertain you with a nice barbecue and drinks by the pool on the Saturday before the Clermont game. ;)

Tickets are very expensive. I spent 25 euros a piece to seat behind the posts. :x

But for my son, that will be his first ever knock-out game, and that is something I want him to experience.

I'll pay for your ticket if you get me the free flight, even from Dublin.

Pretty good fit, culturally. Munster traditionally like to favour the no-nonsense forward play. Mannix coaching the backs shouldn't upset that. :P

It's a peculiarity: it's not Ernest-Wallon but Stadium de Toulouse so isn't being technically counted as a home tie for ST.

Semi is "neutral" venue decided early in the season

usually in 2 locations

now set in a single one

On that topic and Lille, I see they're talking about having the SFs at the new stadium there next year.

Since last year the powers in charge at the LNR have decided that the semi-finals would take place in the same city. Last year it was Marseille that was selected and the conclusions of having both games played in the same place were good enough to renew the experience this year.

Cities were invited to answer the call and Toulouse was selected in the "final two" among the different candidates. The other choice this year was Paris with the Parc des Princes. Among the "package" offered by the city of Toulouse there is a number of animations all week long, a "village du rugby" on Toulouse's main square, etc. And the last semi-final played in Toulouse was at the beginning of the century, so quite some time ago.

Of course it will favour Toulouse in their semi-final, but considering that Toulouse will be playing their 19th consecutive semi-final it had to happen one day...
