There is an us and them culture that pervades most of the private schools in Leinster and that includes within the institutions themselves. The defunct middle classes sending their kids off to mix with future business contacts and cultivate a completely ludicrous frathouse society that has no relevance or meaning in Irish culture. When I was in school everyone was a step away from a half-door in Kerry. Pranks were non-existent because if you got expelled you carried it through your entire working life.

As for the subject matter, what these girls did was pretty understandable. When you are brought up to believe that there are no consequences for your actions you become an oblivious adult and will bring up idiot children.

That said some of the best people I know are products of private schools. The disappointing stamp of privilege is still encouraged and doesn't really have any place in modern Ireland.

Though I agree with the sentiment, it isn't confined to just the middle urban class in this country, there is a national problem of people not taking responsibility for their own actions in this country. These girls are just displaying one aspect of it.
