Nothing against one base at all but to say it would improve training, fitness and tiredness levels really is just bullshit.

Honest question Sappy, do you ever think about what you're saying before you type it into the box and hit submit?

And you completely missed my previous point.
Leinster players too more than likely make hour long drives too and from training.

They all train together everyday,Munster players don't,that's a fairly big issue as well.

That is only fitness training as far as I'm aware.
With ball in hand they all train together so it makes no difference.

To Hellraiser, Apposite etc, call me stupid all day long but you can't deny that the system hasn't worked and there is zero evidence to suggest that one base would improve Munster.

One base is fuckin stupid, it still means the guys from Cork or Limerick have to make the commute.
One half of the team will be fresh and the other half will be tired as fuck.
That is why they have 2 bases you idiots. You honestly expect all the Limerick lads to move to Cork or vice versa, cop on.
At least when it is half and half there is equality and they aren't as tired as they would be.

It's fitness, weights, skills, conditioning, and recovery, they only get on a pitch together 2 days a week for a lot of the season, now that's probably 4 sessions but it's 6 hours at most, compare that to Connacht who do everything together because everything is in the sportsground, training can be changed on a whim, they can do 2 pitch sessions a day if the coaches want to work on something, try getting all the lads in limerick to drive down to cork when they're arriving in for a weights session!
It's a terrible setup.

Fitness would incorporate weights and conditioning. Skills is also an individualistic trait so makes no difference in the team environment either.

The majority of the lads with Connacht all live in Galway, not a good comparison.
Put it this way, I don't know where you live but for argument sake say its Dublin.
Your company has 2 offices, one in Dublin and one in Louth.
You have to make 3 trips to Louth a week to consult with the finance department.
Then all of a sudden your boss tells you we'd rather everyone moved to Louth but we'll still keep the Dublin office.
The fellas from Louth won't have to make the Dublin trip anymore so they'll be chuffed but there is poor oul Mr Popular having to get up an hour early every morning, (no morning sex for you Mr) to trek it up to Louth everyday.
You wouldn't be happy, the 2 bases are there for a reason because they make sense.
If there were no justifiable reasons for them, they would not be there.

You do realise your business example actually happens all the time?

Cork players don't have to move to Limerick if they don't want to, but they should be given sufficient lead time to know that it might be worth moving somewhere slightly further along the N22. The much older guys, could even buy flats for staying in from Tuesday to Friday.

It is different for older guys with families, but every player moving on to a development deal (so long as they are out of uni) should be told to move within 30/40 miles of Limerick.

Most of the players live around the Sth East of the city.

Sappy has a point about the drive some Leinster players have do. SOB is a notable example but they do all their training together and that's the important point.

Not comparing like with like though. SOB only has to drive 4-5 miles from his front door and he's on the M9 and into Dublin in 45mins.

And an extra 30 mins - 45 mins commute for Munster players is so much way worse?

Look my logic is falling on deaf ears.

I reckon Munster will eventually move to Cork as the facilities are better there.
But this nonsense that it will make them a better team, please.

Anyways you'll be chuffed to know you won't see me for a couple weeks, time to get the books out.

45 mins?
Maybe at 3am with no traffic or speed traps to catch you breaking the speed limit.

It's 90 mins on a good day and nearer 2 hours most of the time.

From Carlow? My arse it is. I know that road like the back of my hand. On a good day you can do Waterford to Dublin in 1hr 30mins flat.

Yeah they do, rumors that Usain Bolt will be utilizing them for the Olympics.

Bar SOB does he still live in Tullow? What other players have an hour commute, I imagine most of them live close to Donnybrook/UCD and doubt their training starts at 9am so prob not in rush hour traffic.

Plus SOB does whatever the fuck he wants, so he does.

Apparently some days he rides to training on a Belgian Blue.

We should've built a new stadium in CityWest and nailed down those Lunsters before the Laydees got good.

Damnit.

Another missed opportunity.

I blame Garret Fitz. Off with his head!

For the sole reason that it would shorten my commute to matches should I ever elect to move home.

Slightly selfish motive, if I'm honest.

Lads, I'm telling ye, if we'd built in CityWest, the Lunster's would've come and we could have killed the pro game off in Leinster before it had a chance to take hold.

Simples.

You're missing the point elite pros need far more recovery time and sleep, they can't be hopping in the car for that kind of driving.

All very random.

Red somewhere that the other strength and conditioning coach, the little Aussie lad Joe Gallanagh is off too. He is in charge of the conditoning for Limerick Hurlers this season.

The same Limerick hurlers that Ciaran Carey walked away from because he said there fitness and conditioning was nowhere near up to scratch for championship level

And why do you think he has a place in Dublin within a couple of miles of Donnybrook/Clonskeagh ?
